Mercer Island Women’s Club to host bestselling author at annual luncheon

Join the Mercer Island Women’s Club for its annual community luncheon from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 14 at Covenant Shores. The event is open to the general public.

The featured speaker is author Kelli Estes, who wrote the USA Today bestseller “The Girl Who Wrote in Silk.” Estes is a Washington native, and a winner of the PNWA Nancy Pearl Award and Womens Fiction Writers Association’s Star Award.

Estes grew up near Yakima, and attended Arizona State University, where she earned a degree in business. It took until well into adulthood before she decided to try her hand at writing. Six manuscripts, two babies and 15 years later, her dream of being an author came true with the publication of “The Girl Who Wrote in Silk.” Estes now lives in Woodinville with her husband and two sons.

Mercer Island’s independent bookstore, Island Books, will have books available for purchase for the eagerly anticipated author book signing.
