The Golden Hunter

The shell used by the U.S. Olympic rowing team to win the gold medal in the Women’s 8 rowing competition in Beijing is named after Islander and former UW regent
and benefactor, W. Hunter Simpson. The name is visible in the center
of the boat between the fourth and fifth rower.
