Islanders one and done – Girls ousted by Mount Si

The Mercer Island High School girls soccer team recovered this season from a dismal 1-5 start to qualify for the 3A KingCo playoffs as the No. 4 seed.
However, the Islanders were defeated Tuesday, Nov. 1 at Mount Si High School against the Wildcats, 1-0, on a second half goal during the first round fo the 3A KingCo playoffs.
Mount Si’s Jordan Tipton scored during the 53rd minute of play to give the Wildcats the lead. The Islanders had chances to score but could never get the ball past the Mount Si goalkeeper Jessica Blessard.
The Islanders finished the season with an in-league record of 6-5-3 and an overall record of 6-8-3. The loss broke th estring of three straight years qualifying for the state playoffs, including a state finals berth in 2003.
