Arrested burglary suspect wanted on $250,000 in warrants

Two suspects were arrested during a burglary attempt on Thursday, May 16, in the 4300 block of West Mercer Way. Mercer Island patrol officers and detectives responded to the scene, south of West Mercer Elementary School, at 2:30 p.m. and immediately located and stopped the suspects.

The suspects are two women from south King County. Police contacted them inside their vehicle, close to the residence. The police investigation established an attempted burglary at the residence. At least one of the suspects had unsuccessfully tried to burglarize the same residence once before.

The victim positively identified the primary female suspect, who was then arrested. The suspect gave a false name to officers. Once at the station, police identified her through photographs and fingerprints. The suspect was found to be wanted on over $250,000 in felony and misdemeanor warrants. She is also believed to be responsible for several recent Mercer Island burglaries. Charges are currently pending.

The second suspect, the driver of the getaway vehicle, may be charged with aiding and abetting.
