Brian Vanderkooy was recently announced as a recipient of the Covenant Retirement Communities (CRC) Paul V. Peterson Scholarship. Vanderkooy earned $1,000 to continue pursuing his education while being employed at the Mercer Island senior living community.

CRC recognizes and supports lifelong learning as a powerful means that can provide young adults skills and values needed to be capable and compassionate individuals. Recipients of the scholarship are chosen based on essays and criteria demonstrating clear educational and career pursuits that are consistent with CRC values.

Vanderkooy is currently an administrative assistant and has been at the community since 2014, previously as a certified nursing assistant and a health unit coordinator. He plans to pursue an associate degree in business administration at Chemeketa Community College.
