Father-to-be Trevor Wong had questions about installing and using a car seat in his vehicle. Mercer Island Police Department officers Chase Hawley and Anna Ormsby, who have received certification training in this area, assisted him, according to a post on the Mercer Island Police and Emergency Management Facebook page on Sept. 6.
Wong said he found out that MIPD does this through the Safe Kids CPS Technician program. Learn more at www.cert.safekids.org.
Child Passenger Safety week, sponsored by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and supported by the Washington Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC), is Sept. 17–23 this year. It’s a week when safety technicians provide resources to educate parents and caregivers on how to safely transport children in their cars.
