A community-wide ecumenical Thanksgiving celebration was held at Covenant Shores on Nov. 19. The annual event is sponsored by the Mercer Island Clergy Association.

Fellowship Hall was filled to capacity with an estimated a crowd of over 100 Islanders representing 12 faith communities.

Thanksgiving meditations were given by Chaplain Greg Asimakoupoulos, Sue Wanwig from Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and Susan Morrison, an interfaith minister. Rev. Roberta Rominger read Lincoln’s Thanksgiving Proclamation. The Covenant Shores Chorale (under the direction of Donna Palmberg) sang an anthem.

The evening culminated with attendees coming to “the wall of gratitude” to hang foam shapes with words and phrases that signified what they were thankful for.
