The Mercer Island Farmers Market returns for its 19th season with opening day set from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 31, rain or shine, along Southeast 32nd Street and 77th Avenue Southeast near Mercerdale Park.

Opening day will feature a musical performance by the Mercer Island High School pep band at 10 a.m., followed by Yaarimba Marimba from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The market features 80-plus vendors, including: fresh flowers and produce from local farmers, international food options, coffee and specialty drinks, handmade goods from local artisans, youth vendors, local nonprofits, kids’ activities — including Milo the Market Gnome, a children’s booth and mini shopping carts — and more.

Dogs are now welcome at the market, which runs Sundays from May 31-Oct. 11.

“Join us next to Mercerdale Park as we kick off another vibrant season of local food, community connection and market magic,” reads a press release, adding that the market is a cornerstone of the Island and was recently voted second best farmers market in the Pacific Northwest by the Seattle Times. “The Mercer Island Farmers Market is a community-powered nonprofit dedicated to supporting Washington farmers, producers and small businesses while creating a welcoming space for all.”
