Mercer Island City Council will hold a pair of public hearings at its June 2 regular meeting.

One hearing will focus on the renewal of interim regulations in city code subdivisions to add provisions for unit lot subdivision related to the requirements of Senate Bill 5258. Another hearing will focus on the renewal of interim regulations related to House Bill 1110 (increasing middle housing in areas traditionally dedicated to single-family detached housing) and House Bill 1337 (expanding housing options by easing barriers to the construction and use of accessory dwelling units) in city code. The meeting will commence at 5 p.m.

On June 3, the Mercer Island Planning Commission will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. at the Mercer Island Community and Events Center regarding proposed updates to the comprehensive plan and development code. “These revisions address a Growth Management Hearings Board order to expand affordable housing capacity, implement a new Transit Station Subarea Plan, and adopt anti-displacement measures,” the city said.

People can participate in the hearings in person or by using Zoom and can submit written comments to the city of Mercer Island by e-mail to council@mercerisland.gov until the hearing is adjourned. For more information, visit: https://www.mercerisland.gov/citycouncil.
