Child-size sculpture arrives at Early World Montessori on Mercer Island

A new fountain which “embodies the enthusiasm of childhood play” now graces the front of Early World Montessori on Mercer Island. Earl Caditz, one of the owners of the school, said it puts people in a good mood when they’re walking in. He bought the bronze fountain online, and after four months it was delivered and installed on Nov. 20.

The school’s director, Barbara Luther, said the fountain replaced an evergreen tree that outgrew the space.

Early World Montessori has been at 3027 80th Ave. S.E. for 25 years, Luther said. The school currently has 74 children enrolled, ages 3-6.

Originally called “The Children’s School,” Rosalind Simmons bought the school in 1986, changing to the Montessori format in 1995.

Early World is one of five early childhood education facilities owned by Newport Children’s School, Inc., a family-owned company.

The other schools are Newport Children’s School in Factoria, Sammamish Children’s School, Kirkland Children’s School and Early World Children’s in Bellevue.
