Mercer Island schools to resume regular food services Thursday

With the lifting of the boil water advisory, the Mercer Island School District will resume normal operations Thursday, Oct. 9.

With the lifting of the boil water advisory, the Mercer Island School District will resume normal operations Thursday, Oct. 9, starting with regular food services with the use and consumption of local water.  The district will sanitize, clean and flush its water systems Wednesday afternoon. After-school programs will still have bottled water available Wednesday for students and staff.

“Our students, staff and parents have done a tremendous job of working around this situation and focusing on learning for the past week,” said MISD Superintendent Dr. Gary Plano in a release. “I am impressed to learn the number teachers who used the interruption to our water system as a learning opportunity. Thank you to everyone in our community for working together to make this a smooth process and one that only had positive impacts on student learning, citizenship, and global awareness.”
