Lag B’Omer celebration on the Island

Northwest Yeshiva High School (NYHS) students, from left to right, Steven Rolan, Daniel Negrin, Yehonatan Rothstein, Merav Frank and Emma Almo participate in an all-local Jewish day school Lag B’Omer celebration on May 9 at Aubrey Davis Park on Mercer Island. Lag B’Omer is a Jewish holiday that occurs between Passover and Shavuot, and it is customary to listen to and play music, barbecue, play sports and have fun. For the first time in Seattle history, six Jewish day schools in the greater Seattle area celebrated together. The schools were: NYHS from Mercer Island (9-12), Jewish Day School from Bellevue (K-8) and Seattle’s MMSC Day School (K-8), Seattle Hebrew Academy (K-8), Seattle Jewish Community School (K-8) and Torah Day School/Derech Emunah (K-12).
