Theft: A resident in the 8900 block of Southeast 68th Street reported that approximately $29,000 in copper communication cable was stolen from poles within the last year.
Dec. 11
Fraud: A resident in the 9600 block of Southeast 71st Street reported having $2,920 stolen by an unknown suspect claiming to be in an internship program and displayed the victim’s passport.
Property found: A resident found an AirPod and case while walking on Island Crest Way and Southeast 48th Street. The walker turned the items in to the Mercer Island Police Department.
Assault: When officers attempted to help a suicidal subject, the subject resisted and assaulted the officers in the 3900 block of Gallagher Hill Road. The subject was booked into King County Jail.
Dec. 12
Recovered property: A resident in the 2700 block of 80th Avenue Southeast recovered a license plate that was listed as stolen. The plate, which was attached to the vehicle it belonged to, was seized from the vehicle and submitted for destruction.
Death investigation: Police reported that a 93-year-old female passed away at a home in the 7400 block of 92nd Place Southeast. Nothing suspicious was reported.
Fraud: A resident in the 4000 block of West Mercer Way sent $20,000 in wire transfers to an unknown suspect’s fraudulent account. The case is under investigation.
