PEAK hearing rescheduled for March 5
The Mercer Island Planning Commission meeting scheduled for tonight, Feb. 20, has been cancelled. The three hearings related to the Boys & Girls Club PEAK proposal have been rescheduled and will take place on March 5 at Mercer Island City Hall. To read the hearing notice, go to www.mercergov.org.
Renton Airport Advisory Committee
The new design of the Renton Airport will be voted on tonight by members of the advisory committee at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Renton City Hall, 1055 S. Grady Way. Mercer Island is represented by former mayor Elliot Newman. Boeing plans to expand its 737 program at the airport, and the controversial plan to construct a corporate jet center is no longer part of the design.
Design Commission, Feb. 27
Design proposals for the re-development of the Honeywell property adjacent to City Hall will take place next Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Commissioners will also review the final design of the new additions planned for the French-American School.
I-90 construction
Work on a new HOV direct-access ramp to the North Mercer park-and-ride from westbound I-90 is expected to be noisy during nights through March 3.
Crews have been demolishing the existing concrete barrier and hauling debris. Noise during nighttime construction work may also occur along the north side of westbound I-90 near Island Crest Way and 80th, 77th and 76th Avenues S.E.
