Mercer Island seniors Kyle Bailey, Carson Coe, Oliver Hoff, Austin Shobe, Gabe Muzio, Param Mehta and Alex Mueller are pictured in the above photo.                                The Islanders 200 yard medley relay team of Nate Robinson, Killian Riley, James Richardson and Jake Headrick finished in first place. The 200 yard freestyle relay quartert of Hoff, Robinson, Riley and Richardson earned first place. The 400 freestyle relay team of Coe, Bailey, Shobe and Hoff registered a first place finish. Islanders’ swimmers registering first place finishes in individual events were Headrick (200 free), Caleb Apodaca (200 IM), Robinson (50 free), Bailey (100 backstroke, 100 fly), Richardson (100 free), Ralston (500 free) and Riley (100 breast stroke).

Islanders wrestlers capturing victories against Bellevue consisted of Connor Pettigrew (forfeit), Jordan Tillinger (decision), Andrew Motz (pin), Eli Pruchno (pin), Vinny Ricci (pin), Jonah Andrews (forfeit), Liam Farrell (forfeit) Donnie Howard (pin) and Connor Hill (forfeit). Mercer Island grapplers registering wins against the Rebels consisted of Pettigrew (forfeit), Tillinger (decision), Motz (forfeit), Pruchno (pin), Mattias Harnay (forfeit), Ricci (pin), Andrews (pin), Farrell (forfeit), Howard (pin) and Hill (injury default). Photo courtesy of Danielle Whipple                                The Mercer Island Islanders boys swim team earned first place at the 27th annual Kentridge Invitational meet on Jan. 6 at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. There were 43 high schools who competed at the meet. Mercer Island compiled 698 team points. Mercer Island swimmer James Richardson nabbed first place in the 100 fly and second place in the 100 backstroke. Killian Riley registered a third place finish in the 200 free. Kyle Bailey finished in second place in the 200 IM. The 200 medley relay team consisting of Alex Edwards, Carson Coe, Bailey and Richardson captured third place. The 200 free relay quartet of Oliver Hoff, Nate Robinson, Coe and Riley tallied a third place finish. The 400 free relay team of Riley, Richardson, Robinson and Hoff registered a second place finish.

Islanders’ 195-pound wrestler Donnie Howard captured first place at the tournament, registering a 3-0 record.
