Lions Club Health Screening Van offers free vision, hearing, blood pressure, and glaucoma screenings from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, July 8, and Saturday, July 9, in the parking lot of Rite Aid, corner of 78th Avenue S.E. and 32nd Street.

Clubs

The ProBus Club of Mercer Island will meet at 10:30 a.m. today at the Presbyterian Church, 3605 84th Ave. S.E. The speaker will be Sesh Velamoor, director of programs for the Foundation for the Future, a think tank dedicated to the study of the future of humanity. The program will be Part II of “Where does humanity go from here?” The public is welcome.

ADD Resources Parent Support Group presentation on “Fostering Success in School and Life from the Perspective of the Attention Deficit Disorder Child and Teenager,” is from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 11, at the Mercer Island Fire Station, 3030 78th Ave. S.E. Royal Romp for 3- to 6-year-olds is at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 19. Meet the kings, queens, princes and princesses in your favorite fairy tales.

Dragons, Dreams and Daring Deeds summer reading program has begun. Bring your child to the library to sign up. There will be free programs, prizes and drawings as children read through the summer.

One-on-One Computer Training is available by appointment. The Interact Club, a group of Mercer Island students sponsored by Rotary, provide the training.

Boys & Girls Club

Galleries

Chamber Art Gallery photography show will run from Friday, July 15, through September. Featured photographers: Derek Juhl, a graduate of Mercer Island High School and the University of Washington; and husband and wife team Ron Reeder, who has reinvented an old technology in printing his photos, and Judith Roan, who prefers black and white classic images. The gallery is at the Chamber of Commerce, 7613 S.E. 27th St.

Jean Jack and Esther Akrish are exhibiting their paintings at Ana’s Restaurant, 2420 76th Ave. S.E., through July.

Opening Reception for Costa Rican avant-garde artist Libia Isabel Gutierrez is from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Monday, July 11, in Kafe Kineret. The show runs through Saturday, July 21.

Aging and Saging lecture is at 12:30 p.m., Thursday, July 14, in room 207. Rabbi Johanna Kinberg of Temple B’nai Torah will discuss aging and honoring our elders.

Reunions

The East Seattle School Class of 1946 is celebrating its 60th reunion this summer, despite that it has been only 59 years since the members finished eighth grade on the Island. The group decided to have the event one year early as the Old East Seattle School may be demolished. It plans to celebrate with school tours and dinner at the Roanoke Inn, and wants to find boats to take the class around the Island. Call Ed Lightfoot at 425-644-9768.
