Busy traffic weekend in Seattle

520 will close from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is encouraging people heading to various Seattle-area events this weekend, including Pride festivities, the Bellevue Strawberry Festival or Shoreline Arts Festival, to plan ahead for the weekend’s closure of SR 520 and to take alternative routes, such as I-90, or use transit or carpools.

The I-90 express lanes will open in the westbound direction at 7 a.m. Saturday, June 27, and remain open westbound throughout the closure of SR 520.

Construction of a temporary, westbound off-ramp to Montlake Boulevard in Seattle is the key driver behind the highway closure, scheduled from 11 p.m. Friday, June 26, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 29.

SR 520 closure details

  • All lanes of SR 520 will close, in both directions, from 11 p.m. Friday, June 26, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 29.
