Car prowl suspects in Mercer Island leave clues behind | Police Blotter

The blotter consists of officers’ accounts of crimes and other incidents in Mercer Island. Persons arrested are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

July 27

PROWLING: An unlocked vehicle parked in the 3600 block of 86th Ave. SE was prowled overnight. A wallet, credit cards and a jump pack were stolen.

July 28

MORE PROWLING: A $20 multi-tool was reported stolen after a car prowl in the 4500 block of E. Mercer Way at 4:01 p.m. The vehicle was unlocked.

CAR THEFT: A vehicle was stolen by a “friend” of a victim in the 3800 block of W. Mercer Way at 5:18 p.m. There was no suspect information besides a possible first name.

July 29

PROWLING: A vehicle was prowled overnight in the 4800 block of 86th Ave. SE, and paperwork was stolen. A mailbox was also rummaged through, but nothing was missing. A paintball mask was left inside the victim’s vehicle.

MORE PROWLING: A victim reported that their car was prowled between 1 a.m. and 9:40 a.m. in the 4800 block of 88th Place SE. A gift card was stolen, and the suspect left an EpiPen behind. The victim also reported that mail was stolen from their mailbox.

THEFT: Two bicycles were stolen overnight in the 4300 block of 87th Ave. SE.

FRAUD: A victim in the 5900 block of 83rd Place SE reported at 1:22 p.m. that someone opened accounts at Bank of America and Wells Fargo in his name.

Aug. 3

FRAUD: A victim in the 5000 block of W. Mercer Way said at 3:29 p.m. that their information was used to open a credit card through Chase Bank. The card was delivered to California. It was canceled and there was no financial loss.
