East Mercer Way on-ramp to be tweaked as part of $1.2 million WSDOT ramp-meter project

Activation will be happening in late June and July.

In late June and July, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is activating four new ramp meters on the Eastside.

The $1.2 million project, which is being conducted to create smoother freeway traffic, includes changing Mercer Island’s East Mercer Way on-ramp. The HOV bypass lane as it stands will soon become a metered shoulder onto Eastbound I-90.

Other new meters can be found at Northeast 160th Street and Echo Lake Road to eastbound SR 522, and Fales Road to westbound SR 522.

The ramps will be metered during peak congestion to provide consistent gaps between vehicles merging onto the highway.
