Education bills move forward in Legislature

Two education bills in the state legislature move forward.

The Washington state Senate passed their version of an education reform bill last week, pushing Senate Bill 6048 to the House with a vote of 28 for, 20 against.

The bill, slated as an intent bill leaves funding matters to future legislatures. It was lengthened through an amendment last week and now more closely resembles House Bill 2261, its companion. In the House SB 6048 was referred to the Education Appropriations Committee on March 11.

House Bill 2261 also passed, earning 71 votes for and 26 against. It now heads to the Senate for review.
