Four students from Mercer Island are the recipients of $2,500 merit scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

Four students from Mercer Island are the recipients of $2,500 merit scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.

They are: Nicholas Larus-Store, who attends Lakeside School. His anticipated career field is biotechnology.

Dhruv Narinder Malik attends Mercer Island High School. His probable career field is psychology.

Emily C. Morse, who attends Mercer Island High School, listed health care as her likely field of study.

Shea E. Wojciehowski, who attends Lakeside School, said he will likely study computer science.

Scholars were selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors, who appraised a substantial amount of information submitted by both the finalists and their high schools, including academic records; scores from two standardized tests; contributions and leadership in school and community activities; an essay written by the finalist; and a recommendation written by a high school official.
