The battle of defending state champions Mercer Island and rival Newport High School went this year to the Knights, for the first time since 2000.

Newport was led by a pair of wins from Jenny Huo, who picked up victories in the 200 individual medley and 100-meter breast stroke.

The score was Newport 97, and Mercer Island, 89.
