As a student at Islander Middle School knows firsthand, having things to distract the young patients at Children's Hospital does a world of good.

As a student at Islander Middle School knows firsthand, having things to distract the young patients at Children’s Hospital does a world of good.

The school is taking donations in honor of that student who is battling cancer at the hospital. According to a press release on the IMS website, the student would like to help others at the hospital and is asking fellow Islanders to help.

Items can be donated at the IMS front office through the morning of Friday, June 7.

The hospital would especially like: gift cards or event tickets such as grocery, restaurant, gas or major retailers, as well as tickets to local attractions.

Toys, games and books are also greatly appreciated, specifically small Lego sets, playing cards and teen magazines, as well as crafts, such as Play-Doh, Crayons, markers and coloring books.

The hospital can also use Disney and Pixar DVD’s, PG13 DVD’s, headphones and prepaid gift cards.
