King County Elections certified the results of the 2010 Primary Election on September 1. Thirty-nine percent of King Count voters participated in the August 2010 primary,the highest voter turnout for a primary since 2004, according to county officials.

Voter turn-out by city is not yet available.

Steve Litzow, a current Mercer Island City Council member leads state Senator Randy Gordon in the District 41 senate primary race.

Litzow earned 50 percent of the votes, while Gordon is close behind with 49.8 percent.

In the race for the state representative position currently held by Marcie Maxwell, Maxwell is ahead of Islander Peter Dunbar. Maxwell took 51.7 percent of the early votes and Dunbar gained 48.1 percent.

In the state representative position, incumbent Judy Clibborn won the lead with 56.4 percent, while Stephen Strader registered 38.3 percent.

The top two candidates in each race will advance to November’s general election.

In the U.S. Senate race, Patty Murray(D) has a lead in King County with 58.7 percent of the votes, while Republican challenger Dino Rossi(R) has 27.2 percent; statewide, the percentage is 46 percent for Murray and 33 percent for Rossi.

Ballots for the General Election will be mailed on October 13. The deadline to update voter registration information for the election is October 4. New Washington voters can register in person through October 25. The general election will take place on Nov. 2.
