Man steals alcohol from north QFC | Mercer Island Police Blotter

A man around 20 years of age stuffed several bottles of alcohol into a duffle bag at the north QFC and fled the store after passing all checkout stands.

A man around 20 years of age stuffed several bottles of alcohol into a duffle bag at the north QFC at 11:10 p.m. on Sunday, July 15, and fled the store after passing all checkout stands. An employee confronted and followed the suspect. Two bottles of Scotch worth $53.99 each were stolen along with other liquor. A surveillance camera captured video footage of the incident. One witness was present.

July 10

Bike theft: A Trek bicycle and lock were stolen from an open storage area in the 9000 block of West Shorewood Drive sometime after mid-June. The total loss was $352.

July 14

DUI: Police arrested a 29-year-old driver at 3:04 a.m. in the 9000 block of eastbound I-90 after stopping him for expired vehicle tabs. He had been drinking and was driving with a suspended license. He failed standard sobriety tests and was released to his roommate.

July 15

DUI: A driver speeding 18 mph over the limit in the 7600 block of North Mercer Way was stopped and arrested at 1:54 a.m. The Bonney Lake man, 19, had been drinking and was cited for DUI driving under 21 after consuming alcohol. He was released to a friend.

July 16

Lost: An 18-year-old female lost her iPod Touch in Luther Burbank Park at 2040 84th Avenue S.E. sometime between 10:30 a.m. and noon. The serial number was not known.

Liquor violation: Someone reported an underage drinking party at a shared boat dock in the 9400 block of S.E. 52nd Street at 7 p.m. Police responded and found 10 subjects present under age 21. Three 19-year-old subjects had been drinking and were cited. One subject was also cited for falsifying her ID, including her date of birth.

July 17

Drugs: Police stopped a vehicle with expired tabs in the 8900 block of S.E. 40th Street and arrested an 18-year-old female at 3:32 a.m. for possession of marijuana. Police found marijuana and pipes in the suspect’s glove box and purse. Two male subjects were also involved.

Police arrested two male teenagers, 18 and 19, at 6:15 p.m. in Pioneer Park, in the 5600 block of 84th Avenue S.E. for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both subjects were cited and released at the scene. Their vehicle was released to its registered owner due to the driver’s intoxication.

July 18

Arrest: Police booked a 26-year-old man into the Issaquah Jail after 10:30 p.m. on a $1,000 misdemeanor warrant for driving with a suspended license.

July 19

Accident: A bicyclist was struck by an Audi at 6:14 p.m. in a crosswalk in the intersection of North Mercer Way and 81st Avenue S.E. Police cited the driver, a Mercer Island woman, for not stopping for the bicyclist. A witness said that the vehicle was stopped when the cyclist, 28, entered the crosswalk, but the vehicle then made a right turn and hit the cyclist, who was dragged several feet as her leg was caught in the vehicle’s front wheel housing. The fire department treated the victim at the scene and transported her to a hospital.

Fender-bender: A pickup truck struck a parked Subaru in the side while angling out of a parking stall at 8:40 p.m. in the Woodlake Condos lot in the 3200 block of 80th Avenue S.E. The owner of the Subaru witnessed the incident. Police found the 20-year-old driver of the pickup after he drove away from the scene, and cited him for driving without a valid license and insurance. The driver admitted the accident and said he thought he didn’t cause any damage. The Subaru, however, was damaged.
