Mercer Island Art Uncorked draws a crowd

Art, wine, music and food event fills streets of downtown Mercer Island for an evening of family fun.

The third annual Art Uncorked on Sept. 9 featured many Island artisans, from winemakers and jewelry designers to chocolatiers and rhythm and blues musicians.

The event, held in and around the Outdoor Sculpture Gallery on Sunset Highway, also had a new layout this year. Families explored Art Alley, Seattle food trucks and live music, while those 21 and over enjoyed the wine garden.

Highlights included a photo booth sponsored by the Mercer Island Center for the Arts (MICA), a performance from children’s musician and Citizen of the Year Nancy Stewart and more than 15 wineries, breweries and cider houses pouring tastings and selling bottles at a discount.

The Chamber of Commerce, city of Mercer Island and Mercer Island Visual Arts League (MIVAL) partnered to present the event. A portion of the event proceeds was donated to Mercer Island Youth and Family Services.

Art Uncorked is becoming an Island tradition — and one of the best-attended annual community events on the Island.

Art Uncorked’s presenting sponsors included the city of Mercer Island, New Seasons Market, Wells Fargo Private Banking and the Mercer Island Reporter.

Community sponsors included Anchor Marine Insurance Underwriters, Mercer Island Visual Arts League Gallery, Hadley Apartments, Aljoya Senior Living, Republic Services, Coldwell Banker Bain, Mercer Island Arts Council and Kathryn Lerner Windermere. Additional sponsors were Lighthouse Properties, Northwest Electric and Solar, Six Walls, Brad Judy D.D.S., Christine Face and Body, Windermere Real Estate, Island Dermatology and Mercer Island Living.
