Mercer Island graduation news and honors

A round-up of what Island grads are up to and where they're taking their studies.

Katherine S. Bell, a Mercer Island High School graduate, has received a National Merit Scholarship and will attend the University of Chicago.

Jacqueline Bendrick, a graduate of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., plans to major in Biomedicine at Furman University in Greenville, S.C.

Kate J. Kim, a graduate of Lakeside School in Seattle, has received a National Merit Scholarship to attend Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill.

Candace Chuck, graduated from the A. B. Freeman School of Business with a Bachelor of Science, Management degree at Tulane University in New Orleans, La.

Nicole Etsekson, graduated from the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine with a Bachelor of Science, Public Health degree, at Tulane University in New Orleans, La.

Daniel Reid, graduated from the School of Medicine with a Doctor of Medicine degree and a Master of Public Health degree from the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine from Tulane University in New Orleans, La.

Kelly Conway, received a B.S. in Business and Economics from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.

James Suh, received a Bachelor of Arts from LeHigh University in Bethlehem, Pa.

Mitchell Patrick Crawford was awarded a BA in History, at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn. on May 11.

Zach Sussman, a 2002 graduate of Mercer Island High School, earned a degree in psychology at the University of Washington in 2006. He then attended graduate school at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, where he has completed a Ph.D in Psychology this past month.

Sussman is also completing a pre-doctoral residency in pediatric neuropsychology at Alexian Brothers Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Chicago.

After graduation, he and his wife, Dr. Joleen Sussman, will move to the Denver area, where Sussman will continue his training at a fellowship at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
