The Mercer Island High School mock trial varsity and JV teams recently participated in the South King County district competition on Saturday, Feb. 23. The teams finished in first and second place.

Both teams competed in two rounds against eight other teams from around the Puget Sound. The top three teams earned spots in the state finals, which will be held in Olympia on March 23.

The Mercer Island team includes: Jake Aboulafia, Brooke Byun, Isaac Byun, Mary Joy Dingler, Riley Fang, Ryan Gorey, Jamie Jiang, Kaitlin Kim, Sumedhaa-Priya Kothari, Szu-Raj Kothari, Jennifer Lai, Jeff Lo, Jessie Lu, Aidan McInerny, Christine Na, Rachel Pak, Jackie Saepoff, James Shin, Robert Sun, Matthew Whyte, Emily Wong and Stacey Young.
