Mischief

An Island man called police on Feb. 13 to report a neighbor shooting geese. According to the incident report, the man did not see any geese get hit and wished to remain anonymous. Officers contacted the subject, who admitted to using a pellet gun to ward off geese from his dock, where they often leave excrement. He denied hitting any geese and said that he was unaware that the birds are protected. The man turned his pellet gun over to police for disposal.

Arrests

An employee at the Sunset Shell gas station called police on Feb. 11 to complain of possible drug activity in the restroom. An officer arrived to find the suspects walking away from the station. One suspect was found to have an outstanding warrant from the Lynnwood Police Department. The officer searched his pockets and found a marijuana pipe and four controlled substance capsules in a vitamin bottle. He was arrested and transported to the Lynnwood Police Department.

A man was arrested for Driving Under Intoxication on Feb. 9 after his vehicle was pulled over in the 7000 block of North Mercer Way for an equipment infraction. The officer noticed alcohol on the man’s breath and asked him to take a sobriety test, which he failed. The man was arrested and booked into the Issaquah Jail. His car was impounded.

An officer arrested a 23-year-old Island man for driving while his license was revoked on Feb. 11. The officer saw the suspect’s vehicle heading westbound in the 7400 block of North Mercer Way. The driver made multiple turns and parked in a driveway. The police officer waited on top of a hill for the vehicle to drive out. Instead, the suspect got out of the car and walked to the top of the hill, saw the officer, turned immediately and walked away. The officer found the suspect in a nearby construction site, where the suspect admitted to driving without a valid licensee. He was booked into the Issaquah Jail.

Theft

An Island man reported on Feb. 11 that a water heater had been stolen from a house under construction in the 7700 block of S.E. 58th Street. The heater was last seen at 12 p.m. on Feb. 5 in an upstairs room. The victim discovered it missing at 1 p.m. on Feb. 10. Total losses are $1,000.

A woman reported that her Honda Odyssey minivan was stolen from her driveway in the 2400 block of 63rd Avenue S.E. on Feb. 9. According to the incident report, the vehicle was not locked and the keys were “probably” in it.

Fraud

An Island man reported being the victim of identity theft on Feb. 2. According to the incident report, the man’s personal information was taken and used to make two purchases at Western Union without his permission. In total, the suspect fraudulently robbed the man of $1,050.

Car accidents

Several car accidents due to black ice occurred on the morning of Feb. 11. A driver heading northbound on West Mercer Way hit a patch of black ice around 8 a.m. and lost control of the vehicle. The car slid into the road’s east shoulder, where its rear tire caught a ditch, flipping the vehicle onto the top driver’s side corner. No injuries were reported. At approximately the same hour, 8 a.m., a driver on S.E. 68th Street slid off the road on a patch of ice and struck a small tree. Neither the tree nor the car were severely damaged. A woman heading northbound on West Mercer Way shortly before 8:30 a.m. hit a patch of ice while making a turn near 67th Avenue S.E. The woman hit the breaks, and her car slid into an oncoming school bus. The statement of the bus driver matched the woman’s story. No injuries were reported.
