Two Mercer Island High School tennis players recently competed in the USTA Pacific Northwest Sectional tournament in Oregon.

Two Mercer Island High School tennis players recently competed in the USTA Pacific Northwest Sectional tournament in Oregon.

Sasha Cayward and Chris Elliot competed at the tournament held in August in Beaverton, Ore.

Cayward won two titles, winning the singles and doubles competition in the girls 14 division, whi

le Elliot won in the boys singles and doubles in the boys 12 division.

Both players train at the Mercer Island Country Club.

The sectional tournament is the largest in the Pacific Northwest, featuring 435 junior players from the area.
