Two Island Park Elementary students walked away tallying top marks in their age groups.

Nine Mercer Island youth were among the 20 Boys and Girls Club members participating in the Cano Crush kids home run derby Friday at Occidental Park in Seattle.

Two Island Park Elementary students walked away tallying top marks in their age groups. Brandon Albulhosn was the home run champion among the 10-year-old participants, hitting a day-best seven home runs, including six in his first 10 at-bats. Carter Pohlman was the home run winner among the 8-year-old participants, swinging for three homers.

The event was sponsored by HTC and raised $25,000 for Boys and Girls Clubs of King County. Seattle Mariners slugger Robinson Cano served as host and was on hand to pitch to the home run derby finalists. 710 ESPN radio host Brock Huard served as emcee.
