Mercer Island resident Lisa Vian Hunter made her Fashion Star debut on Tuesday night, the new design show airing on NBC on Tuesdays – although you might have missed her if you weren’t watching closely. Even though Vian Hunter’s clothes were not highlighted in the showcase (expect for a short clip of a red dress), she advanced to the second week.

The show, which will air at 10 p.m. on Tuesday nights, features 14 designers who create a three-piece showcase of clothing which is shown before buyers from Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue and H&M. The designers are mentored by Jessica Simpson, Nicole Richie and John Varvatos – all designers in their own right.

If the buyers like what they see, they bid on the pieces, with the highest bidder earning the right to sell the clothes, which become available in that store the day after the episode airs. No bids from buyers means the designer is up for elimination.

Despite not getting any offers for her clothes, Vian Hunter will appear on the second episode, along with Sammamish resident Lizzie Parker, whose dresses were purchased by Macy’s.
