Mioposto raises funds to support Ukrainian journalists and media at risk

Mioposto pizzerias supported Reporters Without Borders (RSF) at its “Dine Out for Ukraine” fundraiser on March 29 at its Mercer Island restaurant at 2601 76th Ave. SE and its three other locations. Mioposto raised $6,200 during its business hours that day at the four eateries.

From 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., Mioposto donated 20% of the day’s sales to RSF, “to aid them in their work in supporting the journalists and independent media outlets (at risk) who are informing the public about the war in Ukraine.” Dine in, takeout and Doordash sales were included at the Island, Mount Baker, Ravenna and Admiral locations.

Mioposto co-owner Jeremy Hardy said they want to help in their small way to support the above noted mission in Ukraine: “We believe that a free press is paramount to any free democracy. Journalists, professionals, and citizens are being threatened, and worse, in Ukraine.”

On its website, RSF notes that it is “the world’s biggest NGO specializing in the defense of media freedom, which we regard as the basic human right to be informed and to inform others.”
