The Mercer Island Center for the Arts (MICA) announced the election of three community leaders – Bernel Goldberg, Virl Hill and Vijay Vashee – to its Board of Directors. Directors and officers are elected for a one year term.
Goldberg focuses his legal practice on the non-profit world, and serves as General Counsel to the Seattle Symphony Orchestra. He lives on Mercer Island with his wife Gloria and three boys: Aryel, Refael and Eliad.
Hill, a longtime media industry veteran, leads the strategic partnership team in entertainment, autos and sports for Microsoft’s Windows & Devices Group. Previously, he was CEO of Blade Games World and held leadership roles at Rhapsody, RealNetworks and The Walt Disney Company. Hill has served on the boards of Youth Theatre Northwest, Mercer Island Youth Soccer Association and two theatre companies in Los Angeles. He is a member of The Television Academy and The Recording Academy. Hill and his wife Nancy have lived on Mercer Island for 17 years. They have three sons: Ryan, Brandon and Connor.
Vashee joined Microsoft in 1982 as “Employee 160” where he took on many roles that included general manager for PowerPoint and Project and with his teams made them Number 1. Vashee is a strong supporter for local programs directed toward children, and helped start a Seattle chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE), an organization that has helped many local startups. Vashee and his wife Sita are longtime Mercer Island residents and are strong supporters of the arts and community programs, serving on various boards locally.
