Mercer Island High School (MIHS) Class of 2023 graduates Molly Atkinson and Karina McSwiney have been named the June Rotary Islanders of the Month.

MIHS drama teacher and production coordinator Katy Tyszkiewicz Ramsey nominated the duo for the honors.

Atkinson has been a stellar performer and theater technician for the MIHS drama program over the last four years, said Ramsey, adding, “Her positive attitude, kindness and inclusiveness are also assets to our program. She is the shining example of what a theater person is — talented, hard-working and collaborative.”

Ramsey said that the spirited, kind, hard-working and inspirational McSwiney “showed up in theater tech seemingly heaven-sent and ready to work. When she dropped off a bag of work clothes and closed-toe shoes in September to keep backstage so that she would always be safe while working, I knew theater tech was going to be a great fit for her.”
