The St. Monica seventh-grade girls basketball team (5-0) played Eastside Catholic Middle School (6-0) on Friday night at the St. Monica Gym for the CYO JV Girls Championship. They played to a 21-21 tie near the end of the game. Katie Bucy was fouled, and with five seconds remaining, she calmly made one of two free throws to put St. Monica up 22-21. Eastside Catholic tried a desperation shot, but St. Monica’s tough defense swatted the ball to the back court as time expired. St. Monica won 22-21 to take the seventh-grade girls JV championship.

Hill commits to Seattle University

Mercer Island High School senior Mary Hill has committed to play women’s soccer at Seattle University.
