Subject breaks into vehicle and steals $5,000 cash | Mercer Island police blotter

Oct. 28

Vehicle prowl: Someone broke into a vehicle while the owner was visiting a park in the 2600 block of North Mercer Way. The rear passenger window was broken, a backpack was taken with a Honduran passport and $5,000 cash inside.

Oct. 29

Theft: Someone stole eight Yamaha keyboards valued at $1,600 from a storage closet in the 4100 block of 81st Avenue Southeast.

Missing person returns: A resident in the 3600 block of 93rd Avenue Southeast reported that his stepson left the house and was concerned that he hadn’t returned. The stepson returned safe the next day.

Oct. 30

Forgery: A resident in the 9000 block of West Shorewood Drive reported that they received a LifeLock alert for a fraudulent loan through Uloans. The monetary amount was unknown.

Warrant arrest: A subject was arrested on an outstanding warrant for third-degree driving while license suspended in the 8000 block of Southeast 28th Street. The misdemeanor charge can result in fines and a criminal record, according to the Washington State Attorneys website, which adds, “This charge is often due to unpaid tickets or a lapse in insurance coverage.”

Nov. 2

Warrant arrest: A subject was booked into the South Correctional Entity (SCORE) jail in Des Moines on an outstanding Mercer Island Police Department misdemeanor warrant for theft.

Firearms surrendered: A respondent in served protection order surrendered two firearms for safekeeping at the Mercer Island Police Department in the 9600 block of Southeast 36th Street.
