Scott Bradford Nelson was born in Santa Monica, California the fourth child of Gordon and Arleen Nelson. The family spent Scott’s early elementary years in southern California and Chelan, Washington before settling on Mercer Island. Scott attended junior high and graduated from Mercer Island High School. Shortly after starting junior high Scott began a lawn mowing business which he maintained until he completed college. He also, was active in the student recycling center and served as student manger his junior year, learning by experience how to run a business. Scott graduated from the University of Washington with a major in journalism. Soon after college, he joined Auto Trader Magazine in sales where he excelled. Later he and his wife purchased New Way Leasing which they built into a thriving business. Scott met Heidi Lynn Thomas through Auto Trader and they were married in 1997. Within a year he was the proud father of Andrew Scott Nelson. From a very young age, Scott easily related to people of all ages, which served him well personally and professionally. Scott enjoyed being with Andrew, family, his dogs (he had several over a lifetime), hiking, friends and the races when his wife’s horses ran. Mark Andrew Nelson, his brother and Herb Thomas, his father-in-law preceded him in death. Besides his wife, son and parents he is survived by his brother, Gregory Nelson; sister, Heidi Nelson and niece Sarah; plus a large extended family and friends from over the years. A private service has been held with interment at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. There is a memorial website at
