“Education is our number one priority” — how many times have you heard politicians in Olympia say that?

They say it a lot, but actions count a lot more than platitudes. Reps. Tana Senn and Judy Clibborn recently voted for the House Democrats’ budget. This budget funds some good things, but funds them by taking money from the next budget that should be spent on schools.

That’s pretty hard to support. If education is our No. 1 priority, then they should have proven it when they had the chance. Senn and Clibborn should have gone against their caucus’ wishes and stood up for schools instead.
