Mercer Island 9-10 All-Stars win district title

The Mercer Island 9-10 All-Stars took home the District 9 crown, beating Sammamish 9-1 in the championship final on July 10 at South Mercer Playfields.

The Mercer Island 9-10 All-Stars took home the District 9 crown, beating Sammamish 9-1 in the championship final on July 10 at South Mercer Playfields.

Mercer Island went undefeated in the district tournament, outscoring the opposition 52-11, with the closest matchup being a 5-3 victory over Eastlake in the semifinal round.

Team members include Brandon Abulhosn, Neal Baron, Jack Buchan, Shane Deguchi, Tyler Gilroy, Carter Gribble, James Gumbs, Spencer Kornblum, Evan Otte, Julian Peters, Mason Szylko, Jayden Wang and Matt Williamson. The all-stars are led by manager Mak Abulhosn and coaches Mike Gilroy and Les Baron.

Mercer Island will begin state tournament competition against Walla Walla on Saturday in Lynnwood.
