Students from Mercer Island High School and Newport High School have partnered with Seattle Adaptive Sports to hold a wheelchair basketball game between teams consisting of students and staff from Mercer Island and Newport High Schools vs. the Junior Sonics basketball team.

After heading east for the first weekend of the 3A state tournament last Wednesday, to beat the weather, the Mercer Island boys basketball team split their games, but the season ended with a 60-44 loss to Kamiakin last Saturday.
While the Islanders only won two event titles during the 3A state swim meet on Saturday night, the Mercer Island boys team still left King County Aquatic Center as the state champions.
The Islanders won with a 350 team score, while second place Lakeside had 227 points.
