Girls set record for select basketball

A record number of 45 girls attended the Tune Up for the select teams Tryouts on Sept. 8-9. The Mercer Island girls basketball booster club has added a fifth team for the first time in the organization’s history.

MI teen going to National Equestrian event

Islander Maxi Gumprecht competed at the 2007 Morgan Medallion Classic Horse Show on Aug. 15-18 in Santa Barbara, Calif. Gumprecht won the prestigious AMHA Western Seat Silver Medal Class at this very competitive show. In honor of this win, Gumprecht will receive an engraved silver medal from the American Morgan Horse Association (AMHA) and is qualified to compete for the Gold Medal at the 2007 Grand National and World Championship Morgan Horse Show held in Oklahoma City this October.

Mercer Island girls youth soccer night

MIHS Youth Soccer Night: MI High Girls Soccer invites all MI youth soccer players to game, 7- 9 p.m., Oct. 18. Registered teams will be introduced at halftime. Free posters and cocoa.

Lacrosse Fall Ball for boys

Mercer Island Lacrosse Fall Ball for boys, grades 1-8: Oct. 7-Nov. 25. This weekly program provides clinics and scrimmages to prepare current and prospective players for the spring season. Grades 1-4 will practice from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.; grades 5-6, 12 p.m.-1 p.m.; and grades 7-8, 1 p.m.-2 p.m. For registration, go to mercerislandlacrosse.com and click on the registration link.
