MIHS boys soccer hosting Memorial Day fundraiser | Prep sports briefs

Members of the MI varsity boys soccer team will serve breakfast and lunch at the Islander Restaurant to fundraise for a trip to Portugal

The Mercer Island High School boys soccer booster club will host a Memorial Day fundraiser Monday, May 25 at the Islander Restaurant. Featuring silent auction items, appearances from professional soccer players and members of the Islander varsity boys soccer team serving breakfast and lunch, the event will benefit the MIHS boys soccer program and an upcoming trip to Portugal this summer.

“Last year, we took the U12 boys to China and it was incredibly inspiring for the players,” Rigby said. “Going to Portugal this year with high school-aged boys is a great way for the Mercer Island community to be seen internationally. For players, getting the experience to play in a country like Portugal is going to be another really inspiring event.”

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased from members of the MIHS boys soccer team or from the Islander Restaurant. Breakfast will be served until 12 p.m., and lunch will run until 3 p.m. Tickets in groups of ten can be purchased at a discounted rate from Rigby at colin.rigby@mercerislandschools.org or crigby3@gmail.com.
