André Henri Airut

André Henri Airut was born August 16, 1934 in Cairo, Egypt; died October 10, 2016 in Bellevue, WA.

Survived by Nicole, his loving wife of 53 years; his daughter, Carole Airut Murphy (James); grandchildren: Sean, Audrey, Monica, Jacqueline and Julia.

André graduated with an electrical engineering degree from Cairo University and took his first job with Egypt Air. With the assistance of his new bride, Nicole, he was recruited by the Boeing Company for a new opportunity in Seattle.

André, Nicole and their newborn baby, Carole, immigrated to Washington in 1967 and settled on Mercer Island. While working for Boeing, he obtained a Masters Degree in Engineering at Seattle University. During his distinguished 32 years at Boeing, he progressed through the engineering ranks to become one of the most respected ambassadors for the company. He served on the SPEEA Executive Board and ultimately became president of SPEEA before his retirement.

André was unbeatable at backgammon and eager to challenge anyone. He enjoyed the outdoors and was a Master Gardener. He cultivated an impressive display of beautiful and rare roses in his home garden on Mercer Island.

André loved his family with all of his heart. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.

Recitation of the Rosary will be Tuesday, October 18th at 7 pm at Hoffner Fisher & Harvey 508 N. 36th St., Seattle Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, October 19th at 10am at St. Monica Catholic Church 4301 88 th Ave. S.E., Mercer Island.
