The Mercer Island girls water polo team picked up a strong win over Bainbridge on Wednesday afternoon, beating the Spartans 13-4 at Mary Wayte Pool.

“It was good for us,” said head coach Ryan Hall. He said the team was up at halftime, but extended the lead with a few more goals in the third quarter, before subbing in the fourth to give more players experience.

“It was a change for more experience, which is the biggest thing we need,” said Hall. The team this year he said is a combination of JV and varsity level players, with several playing the game for the first time.

“We have two seniors who have a decent amount of experience, who play year round, a few freshman and sophomore who’ve never played before,” said Hall.

The game against Bainbridge was the team’s fifth this season.

“There is definitely improvement, but there is still a lot of improvement to go,” said Hall.
