King County Elections released preliminary primary election results Tuesday night. Out of 18,197 registered voters, 4,914 returned their ballots.

For Mercer Island City Council Pos. 7, incumbent Debbie Bertlin gathered 56.8 percent (2,686) of the vote, Robin Russell gathered 10.93 percent (517) of the vote, and Jake Jacobson gathered 32.08 percent (1,517) of the vote, according to preliminary results.

Bertlin and Jacobson will likely advance to the general election.

So far, about 4,914 voted for this position out of 18,197 registered voters for the city council race.

Ballots were due to King County by 8 p.m. Tuesday. Early election results began at 8:30 p.m. Final results will be certified Aug. 20.
