Jason Hagey, vice president of communications for the Association of Washington Business (AWB), will discuss “A Vision for Washington’s Economy” at the Rotary Club of Mercer Island’s meeting on Aug. 19 at the Mercer Island Community and Event Center, 8236 SE 24th St.
The main meeting begins at 12:30 p.m.; socializing is from noon to 12:30 p.m. Guests are always welcome and there is no fee to attend. A catered lunch is available for $25, or attendees can bring their own meal.
A press release notes about the talk, “Washington is projected to gain 2 million new residents by 2040. What are we doing to ensure our economy is prepared to handle this growth? Where will the new arrivals live and work? Where will their children go to school? Will we have enough electricity to power the homes, industry and an increasingly electrified auto fleet? Washington in the Making 2040, a new initiative from AWB and the Washington Roundtable, aims to start the conversation around these important questions.”
