Mercer Island’s police department is still investigating an Oct. 7 incident when an adult male called for help from the bottom of a 25-foot retaining wall and was soon extricated by Eastside Fire & Rescue (EF&R) with aid from the Bellevue Fire Department.
After the agencies performed a high-angle rescue, the man — who sustained serious injuries — was transported to Harborview Medical Center, according to EF&R.
At 3:09 a.m., two people walking their dog heard the man’s calls and phoned 911. Police were on scene first, called for fire to assist at 3:32 a.m. and they located the man. EF&R arrived at 3:38 a.m.
Police noted that the man was not a Mercer Island resident, and they last heard that he was still receiving medical care. EF&R could not provide any additional information.
