Suspect arrested for stealing Halloween candy, condoms, laundry detergent and a pizza | Mercer Island police blotter

Oct. 15

Abandoned trailer: In the 5800 block of East Mercer Way, police impounded an abandoned, unregistered trailer.

Oct. 16

Property damage: A resident in the 6200 block of East Mercer Way reported that someone broke into their mailbox overnight. There was approximately $10 in damage. It is unknown if they had any mail that was stolen.

Oct. 17

Burglary: A suspect broke into a shed and swiped $2,000 worth of tequila in the 2600 block of 76th Avenue Southeast.

Warrant: A subject was booked into the South Correctional Entity jail in Des Moines on a Mercer Island Police Department warrant for third-degree driving while license suspended. The misdemeanor charge can result in fines and a criminal record, according to the Washington State Attorneys website, which adds, “This charge is often due to unpaid tickets or a lapse in insurance coverage.”

Burglary: In a case still under investigation, an adult female suspect forced entry into a residence for sale, stole alcohol and damaged a window in the 3800 block of East Mercer Way.

Oct. 20

Vehicle prowl: In the 2400 block of 71st Avenue Southeast, a suspect prowled an unlocked vehicle overnight and stole a backpack and three pairs of sunglasses valued at approximately $1,500. There is no suspect information or camera footage.

Theft: A suspect who was previously trespassed from a business in the 7700 block of Southeast 27th Street was arrested for stealing Halloween candy, condoms, laundry detergent and a pizza. The suspect was booked into the Issaquah Jail.
