Oct. 21

Vehicle prowl: A resident reported that someone stole his vehicle registration from inside the vehicle within the last few days in the 7400 block of 80th Place Southeast.

Oct. 22

Vehicle prowl: Two people fell victim to motor vehicle prowls at the Luther Burbank Park south parking lot in the 8400 block of Southeast 26th Street. One watch valued at $800 was stolen from one of the vehicles.

Injured animal: Police were dispatched to 82nd Avenue Southeast/Island Crest Way regarding an injured deer on the side of the road near traffic. An officer arrived and located the deer hyperventilating with broken front legs after it was hit by a car. Following police protocol, according to the Mercer Island Police Department, the officer shot the suffering deer and notified Public Works for removal.

Oct. 23

Found property: Someone found a wallet containing a Honduran ID and $30 on the ground outside of the police department trailers in the 9600 block of Southeast 36th Street.

Oct. 26

Property damage: A driver tore up the outfield grass of a city-owned softball field in the 8200 block of Southeast 78th Street. It will cost approximately $500 to repair the grass. No video surveillance or witnesses.

Oct. 27

Warrant arrest: Police arrested a subject on a felony warrant for possession of a stolen vehicle and property in the 7800 block of Southeast 28th Street.

Warrant arrest: A subject was booked into the Issaquah City Jail on an outstanding Mercer Island Police Department warrant for third-degree driving while license suspended. Police took the subject into custody following a traffic stop in the 2400 block of 70th Avenue Southeast. The misdemeanor charge can result in fines and a criminal record, according to the Washington State Attorneys website, which adds, “This charge is often due to unpaid tickets or a lapse in insurance coverage.”
